How to Activate your Barclays Credit Card
If you receive approval to use new Barclays credit card, then it is safe and easy to activate your new account online.
All you need to do to activate your card online in the United States is to go to the Barclays website. If you are an existing cardmember, then you can input your username and password to access the new account.
If this is your first Barclaycard account, then you will need to click on the “Activate My Card Now” button on the left side of the screen. You will then be taken to a page where you might verify your identity.
Barclays will ask for your account number, security code, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Your date of birth is also required. Then you must select an occupation and verify that you are a citizen before continuing.
Then follow the instructions on the next screens to finish the activation process.
Phone Activation in the United States
You have the option in the United States to activate your credit card over the phone using an automated process.
You can dial 1 (877) 408-8866, and then following all of the prompts given to complete the account activation process. Please note that this number is different from the customer service line for general inquiries or self-service.
If there is an issue with your activation for some reason, the activation hotline will transfer you to the next available representative to complete the process. Phone support is available 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
You also have the option to use the Barclays US app to manage your account.
How to Activate Your UK Barclaycard
If you are in the UK and need to activate your new Barclaycard, then you will have five minutes to complete the registration process. You will need your credit card and the amount of your credit limit to complete the activation online.
You can also activate the Barclays card through the Barclaycard app, which is available through Google Play or the iOS app store.

Anyone living in Canada, Mexico, or anywhere else in the world can contact the activation hotline in the US or the UK depending on where their specific account receives management.
This activation process also applies to branded cards through Barclays, such as the Wyndham Rewards card or the Uber credit card.
